While the trees here could do with better management, they are protected by a Tree Preservation Order and provide refuge for wildlife, which is in Dunbar in short supply. The trees have featured here for centuries and are as important a part of the local landscape as the estate walls. A path in the woods would immediately create demands for proper surfacing, widening and lighting and before long pointless CCTV.
