Why we built Felt
Spatial data should be useful to everyone who makes decisions with it, not only to the specialists who can open it. We built Felt so geospatial teams, field and operations crews, and the stakeholders they answer to can all work from the same map.
Today, teams across agriculture, government, insurance, energy, and real estate run their spatial work on Felt, including Indigo Agriculture, Fastned, and the County of Santa Barbara.
The team behind Felt
Our founders, Sam Hashemi and Rachel Zack, met at Remix, where they helped cities build better transit systems. Sam brought experience designing interfaces for astronauts, scientists, and judges. Rachel brought a career shaping policy for public spaces and helping cities reimagine their mobility. Together, they share a love for maps and the power maps have to drive decisive action.
Our engineering team is behind some of the industry-standard tools that help turn your geospatial data into high-performance maps. Felt is built on MapLibre and Tippecanoe, alongside a QGIS integration, so data engineers and developers get a platform grounded in the open standards and tools the GIS community already trusts.
