SeerAI’s mission is to make it possible for anyone to retrieve spatial data from common sources that typically require complex integrations with APIs, databases, and disparate file types. SeerAI has already turned data retrieval into a simple button click; however, as primarily a middleware company, he needed an equally intuitive platform to serve the results to clients. SeerAI Co-Founder and CTO Daniel Wilson, who previously worked at Esri, knows the hurdles users face with legacy GIS technologies and did not think such technologies could provide the flexibility or scalability SeerAI would need to serve their customers well. Traditional solutions like ArcGIS Dashboards proved limiting, requiring tedious manual processes that were both time-consuming and error-prone, especially when modifications were needed. He started looking for alternatives that were performant, flexible and designed with the end user in mind.
After evaluating various mapping platforms, SeerAI implemented Felt as their dashboard creation tool, leveraging its Python SDK & API for advanced automation. Through Felt's API, SeerAI developed scalable scripts for deploying interactive time-slider visualizations across multiple datasets - a capability unique to Felt among available platforms. This approach allowed them to serve tile layers from different time periods while maintaining optimal rendering performance and user interaction. This was particularly important when creating time-series visualizations of multiple data sources including land cover, SAR imagery, and multispectral datasets.
Key criteria for clients is the look and feel of the map, and Daniel thought Felt’s design stood out. The platform's intuitive interface and flexible styling options enabled them to create visually appealing maps with minimal setup time. “I love that it’s a seamless building experience plus production-ready maps that render beautifully. It eliminates the traditional friction between rapid development and professional-grade visualization, letting engineers focus on communicating data rather than wrestling with cartographic tooling,” shared Daniel.
The switch to Felt has dramatically accelerated SeerAI's ability to deliver proof-of-concept dashboards and marketing materials, reducing development time from days to hours. Their data science and marketing teams, previously hindered by complex GIS software, can now create compelling visualizations within hours instead of spending days wrestling with technical constraints.
"In the world of mapping software, you face a choice: build it yourself with web frameworks and libraries, or buy off-the-shelf solutions. If your goal is rapid, effective map-based communication, Felt is the clear choice because it eliminates the massive overhead of custom development while offering capabilities that outshine other available options. For anyone starting from scratch and needing to deliver mapping products quickly, I'd be hard-pressed to recommend anything else."
Most significantly, Felt proved instrumental in securing a crucial proof-of-concept project that "would not have been successful without Felt," according to Daniel. The platform's performance optimization and intuitive interface have enabled SeerAI to reach a broader audience of non-GIS users while maintaining the sophisticated capabilities needed for their technical solutions.
